I took the picture below sometime in late 1983. It's just one more shot of the grim Berlin Wall. In this case, the Wall blocked a point of high cultural value to Berliners - the Brandenburg Gate. That's enough of a reason to treasure this shot. My favorite part of the picture is the sign in German at the bottom warning that you are leaving West Berlin. As they say, "No shit, Sherlock." To be fair, the sign preceded the Wall. I guess they didn't see any point in taking it down once its message became just a tad redundant.
