I had the good fortune of being invited to a book club to discuss Switchback on Wednesday evening. The club consists of seven women who live about an hour from here who'd read the book and asked if I'd be their guest speaker at their November meeting. Of course! I had a blast. Their questions and enthusiasm were great. They shared what the liked about the book, asked questions about the mechanics of writing, why I'd made certain choices, and how I went about creating the characters. We also had a nice discussion about the Cold War and how the spy genre has changed to rely heavily on technology. At the end they asked me to sign their copies of the book. What a nice ego boost! A fun evening in the company of fun, smart people. What's not to like?
